Bel Aire Heritage Park

Carriacou / Grenada

This project was designed in collaboration with renowned Grenadian play writer, Richardo Keens Douglas who conceived the idea of developing a cultural park to showcase the arts and culture of the island of Carriacou. Located on a flat 3.6 acre site at Bel Aire, the site is organized along a pedestrian walk that allows patrons to partake in the various cultural attractions which recall the island's rich history. Amongst the many attractions are Amerindian ruins, a story tree, a rum cellar, a museum, a play area, shops, a bar, a stage/ amphitheatre and displays that illustrate the island's colourful and varied architectural influences, all brought together to reflect village life in Carriacou. At the center of the site is an existing Great house - to be restored and used for the hosting of displays and memorabilia of the park.
