Dodgy Dock Bar

True Blue / Grenada

The Dodgy Dock Bar was commissioned as a re-build/extension to the once existing 'Stuart's Bar' which was destroyed by hurricane Ivan in 2004. The owners desired additional space which necessitated the driving of piles into the bedrock. The design entailed deck areas (at varying heights) to create intimate settings, around a central bar. A canvas sail roof 'galvanizes' the main areas providing soft light during the day (offering the ability for easy removal during times of inclement weather), cast concrete walls 'frame' the ocean beyond, and metal handrails combined with stainless steel cables complete the materials composition. The bar has become a major attraction for the resort offering a dynamic space where diverse activities and functions are hosted.
