La Sagesse

La Sagesse / Grenada

This project involved the redesign of a small beach resort at La Sagesse Bay. It includes two buildings, a restaurant and guest suites, adjacent to the beach. Construction was completed within eight month during the off-peak period.

The guest suites all have ocean views and are arranged along a corridor with beach front suites on one side and "tree-top" loft suites on the other. The restaurant building offers a porch like atmosphere with unimpeded views of the ocean and adjacent garden. The building is constructed using Walabar tree poles and an array of tropical hardwoods. A backlit bar clad in a translucent laminate reminiscent of Japanese shoji screens provides a visual focal point to the dining room. Anchoring the composition is a conical stone tower (reminiscent of an old mill building) which houses the main office.
