Morne Rouge Condominiums

Morne Rouge / Grenada

This project entailed the accommodation of one and two bedroom condominium apartments on a steeply sloped site. The building mass was divided in two sections, accommodating a centralized access core containing the elevator and staircase, with apartments flanking both sides. A free formed organic armature/'exoskeleton' was designed to screen occupants moving to and from the apartments. Although the exoskeleton is itself a strong iconic feature it manages to mediate the scale of the most public of the facades providing texture and contrast to the hard edged rectilinear form of the building mass. The end product is the creation of a project that posits an architecture that is distinguishable in character and experience.
