Solomon Residence

Fort Jeudy / Grenada

This house was designed to minimize the impact of gusting winds and ocean spray on the windswept ocean front site. A serpentine retaining wall wraps the exposed edge of the site to control the wind. The wall successfully protects the living spaces which are arranged in a "U" shape around a lawn. The 16 foot high living and dining room is flanked on one side by four bedrooms and on the other by service functions (kitchen, laundry & garage) and a guest cottage.

Precisely cut local coral stone is applied to the weather exposed side of the building (enabling low maintenance) and is further accentuated by a combination of (frosted and clear) glass, exotic hardwoods, Travertine and wood floors throughout.
