Westerhall Distillery Master Plan

Westerhall / Grenada

This project was undertaken to determine the feasibility of developing a heritage park at the ruins of the old Westerhall Rum Distillery. The insuring master plan provides visitor attractions which includes, landscape features, public furniture, a pond, a museum, and restaurant. It was determined that visitor experience could be greatly enhanced by a sequenced tour providing insight into the many existing ruins (such as the sugar cane crushers, metal burners and boiling pans). The most significant undertaking for the project would be the reactivation of the original aqueduct and water wheel. It was established that water from an existing river could easily be channeled (as in previous times) to facilitate the operation of the aqueduct and water wheel.
