Vehicular access for this steeply sloped site was the key determinant of the site organization. The upper level contains the main house configured to fit the narrowing front section of the site. Cascading down the hillside are two lower tiers which respond to the site topography.

The middle tier accommodates services including laundry, storage (delete comma) and a partially covered deck intended as an open-air recreational zone. At the lowest level is a self-contained flat. Generous openings in the enclosures of the indoor spaces frame ocean views and enable connectivity with the outdoor living spaces and surrounding landscape.
