Lowther's Lane Financial Complex is the winning competition entry for a new state of the art facility housing seven separate government departments. The site encompasses two portions – one measuring 21,244 sq. ft. where the building will be located, and a 30,000 sq. ft. piece to accommodate parking. Designed as 'a smart-green building' the project utilizes a Building Management System to provide security, fire protection, and monitoring energy consumption.
A host of material choices including high performance glazing, sunshades on the south and west facades to mitigate against solar gain, sensitive landscaping, a water feature at the Plaza to create a cooler microclimate at the building envelope, water saving fixtures, grass pavers in the parking areas, and a water collection system all amount to a building that is one with its site and the natural environment.
