Project Description:
The design of this house prioritizes privacy and the creation of an intimate setting which serves as a counterpoint to the heroic, formal gestures that often typifies contemporary dwellings.
Positioned on a sloped site, sitting ‘quietly’ in the landscape. Camouflaged at the roadside, its presence is only felt upon entry to the light filled carport. A Koi Pond delimits the interior space from the exterior along with selected apertures framing the view of Egmont Bay. A deep veranda fitted with a lounge area separates the private wing of the bedrooms. A brightly colored spiral staircase is the central feature linking the lower-level boatbuilding workshop, the main floor and rooftop deck. A swimming pool and uncovered deck fronts the bedroom section in line with the southern boundary of the site.
